Support For Parents
School Home Support:
We have a School Home Support practitioner based at the school. Emma Moore, our School Home Support practitioner works with families to tackle the underlying issues that cause poor attendance/behaviour and lead to under-achievement. Engaging parents with their child’s education has a direct impact on a child’s achievement. Emma provides advice and guidance for families on a whole range of issues including housing, health and finance.

Parents and Carers Support Group:
Our Parent Support Group meets regularly to discuss issues of concern to parents. Meetings are facilitated by Jeannette Coyle, Early Years Leader and Lead Practitioner, and are fairly informal. Chris Collet, parent, had the following to say about the support group;
“The parents support group is a relaxed, informal environment to meet with other parents. It is a place where you can talk about concerns, share ideas and experiences, or if you prefer, just to come and listen to others. For me personally, It was great to meet with other parents and people who understand the challenges and joys that caring for a child with additional needs can bring.”
Meetings are once every half term with a different focus each time. The dates are published on the calendar. We have different speakers from within Lewisham Services or Brent Knoll School – this has previously included Speech and Language Therapy, Movement Works Dance Group and the school counsellor. Come along and have a slice of cake and a cup of tea and enjoy an opportunity to network with other parents. The Parents and Carers Support Group is aimed at helping parents and carers support each other and share ideas.
