Useful School Information

Uniform

We expect all pupils to wear our simple uniform. School sweatshirts (which can be purchased from the office), dark trousers and white shirts. Pupils must supply their own PE kit.

Accidents and illness

All parents are asked to complete an emergency contact form, This provides essential information such as parents'/ carers' telephone numbers as well as the number of an alternative adult who can be contacted if the child has an accident at school It is very important to inform the school of any changes to these telephone numbers.

Slight accidents will be treated in school by a qualified first aider. If an accident is serious we will call an ambulance and parents / carers are informed immediately, A member of staff will accompany the child to the local accident and emergency department and will remain there until the parent/carer or an appropriate adult arrives.

All accidents are investigated and recorded.

Absence from school

Parents/carers should notify the school in writinq when a child is due to be absent from school for such reasons as medical appointments or treatment, giving details of when and how long the child is likely to be absent. Where a child is unwell the school must be notified by telephone on the first day of absence.

Parents are asked to avoid arranging holidays during term time. If it is unavoidable the headteacher may authorize a limited absence if a written request {on a form available from the school office) is made in advance. A maximum of two school weeks may be authorised for the purpose of annual holidays during any one school year.

Unauthorised absences will be investigated by the school attendance officer.

The School Day

School begins for all pupils at 8.55 am each morning. Pupils should not arrive earlier than 8.40 am unless they are attending Breakfast Club. School finishes at 3.15 pm each day except on Friday when it closes at 2.30 pm for staff meetings.

Fire Drills

These take place at least termly so that all pupils learn how to leave the building safely in an emergency.

School Lunch

School lunch is cooked on the premises Payment should be sent to school on Monday in a named envelope or on the first day of half term. All cheques should be made payable to The London Borough of Lewisham. The School Administrative Officer can provide advice on entitlements to free school meals. Some pupils prefer to bring a packed lunch to school. Pupils are not allowed to bring in glass bottles.

Charging for School Activities

Pupils are taken on regular educational visits throughout the year. Visits may be to local places of interest or further away, such as central London.

The school may ask parents for voluntary contributions towards the cost of these outings but no pupil will be excluded if a family is unable to pay the full cost.
